science programs Linux on a EEEPC 1000HD (I): 3.0 Eeebuntu NBR

few days ago I bought an Asus EEEPC 1000HD , mostly chose this netbook for the price (was on sale) and 160GB hard drive (as they have to live with Windows XP and Linux). Since

came with Windows XP already installed I decided to install a version of Linux that I serve for this pc. The problem is always, " which to choose? I want to be a BBB (good, nice and cheap) that translating is fast, nice and usable, which need not be setting options but I recognize them by default.

So far I've tested 3.0 Eeebuntu NBR

good:
- I loved the first recognition of all hardware, including an external bluetooth USB-pen with which I managed to connect to the phone.
- The graphical interface is very friendly (Ubuntu Netbook remix version).
- Applications are fast.

bad:
- Creeps greatly GUI entry (the NBR itself), how bad is that's the beauty of the BBB.
- There is a small bug when upgrading from kernel config tool or EEA, when you press the right button on the EeePC Tray (the application that configures the buttons, wifi, webcam, etc).

I will try other options Any suggestions? S2

PS: For the record I'm pretty vague on Linux so it will avoid having to configure things (unless you have a script do this automatically).

PD: I will start testing the Eeebuntu LXDE 3.0 (beta) and it seems to be a minimal installation with a really light desktop ... to see that.

Coach - connector PIC40USB and Nunchuk (Wii)

I posted two modules over Coach project (the was in the pipeline).

First, the layout (just the outline) of PIC40USB to serve for the PIC18F4550 and the like. The novelty is that it includes a connector for USB and the ability to power electronics from the USB (not advisable to feed the rest of the modules from the USB and it might overload).

Second, a module for connecting the Nunchuk (auxiliary control of the Wii) with the remaining modules (using the I2C protocol), also carries the connector and built-in protections to prevent short circuits and power surges or use 5V supply.

hope shortly to put more modules (the PIC80 is in the process) and make these, I also modify the properties to set a standard for PCB's used. S2
